It is possible to boot 64-bit OS X (with 64-bit-capable CPU) with 32-bit EFI, if you use Hackintosh tools, namely Chameleon. I have the cursor jumping around with a 2010 MBP 17″, built in trackpad. Its is super irritating. I often miss buttons, menu items etc on the screen.
