I attempted to download the 10.7.4 combo update. Downloaded 1.16G out of 1.4G at a 1500 Mbit/sec in a matter of a few minutes. Then Safari got hung up there for 45 minutes for no reason. Scratch head, run ShaperProbe to see if my ISP (TWC) started throttling. Nope, have full bandwidth. Start looking for Safari’s download stop / resume button. Turns out it’s gone. Having no other option, quit, double-click on the partially downloaded file in hopes of resuming. Silly me, it looks like that feature was lost a while back. It is probably just another small regression in Apple’s software.
Start Firefox and restart the download from scratch. My love for Apple is also in regression one small notch at a time.
