I have been a loyal Apple customer since buying my first Mac in March of 1985. In the last few days, I have been watching with amusement everybody and his brother lining up to declare Steve Jobs as their personal savior and hero. On this very Apple/Mac loyalist’s site, I am sure there are more than a few of us that can remember the 80’s and the 90’s, when both Steve and Apple were being referred to as ‘has beens’ by the masses, and as we sat in the airports with our lonely PowerBooks, people gave us funny looks. Steve was still our personal hero, but he simply was not for the rest of the world. We stuck by the company and Steve, and how things have changed. I hope there is a little bit of ‘I told you so” pride in all of us die-hard fans from the early days in believing in this company and Steve. Believe it or not, we are also partly responsible for its survival and its success.
