I recently received the following message on our VAX system. It had been to
\nquite a few GM facilities, and contained a forwarding header of approximately
\n14k. I had to remove the header to shorten the length of the document, but I

\nAbstract: Mouse Balls Available as FRU (Field Replacement Unit)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Mouse balls are now available as FRU. Therefore, if a mouse
\nfails to operate or should it perform erratically, it may need a
\nball replacement. Because of the delicate nature of this
\nprocedure, replacement of mouse balls should only be attempted by
\nproperly trained personnel.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Before proceeding, determine the type of mouse balls by examining
\nthe underside of the mouse. Domestic balls will be larger and
\nharder than foreign balls. Ball removal procedures differ
\ndepending upon manufacturer of the mouse. Foreign balls can be
\nreplaced using the pop-off method. Domestic balls are replaced
\nusing the twist-off method. Mouse balls are not usually static
\nsensitive. However, excessive handling can result in sudden
\ndischarge. Upon completion of ball replacement, the mouse may be
\nused immediately.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
It is recommended that each replacer have a pair of spare balls
\nfor maintaining optimum customer satisfaction, and that any
\ncustomer missing his balls should suspect local personnel of
\nremoving these necessary items.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
