Following an update to iOS 6, today we were hit with AT&T’s four times data overage (4 x 200MB) for my son’s iPhone. He had used 30 MB for the first 15 days of the data cycle, and the rest since iOS 6 came out. After a little investigation, he pinned it down to Apple’s own Podcasts application. Apparently, even if the cell data usage is turned off in the app, due to a bug, it keeps using it anyway.
To add insult to the injury, AT&T was real slow in sending data overuse messages, and only sent two, instead of four, while charging us for four. We called AT&T and after explaining this issue, we were given credit for the overage.
